Key Issue

The Close and Reporting cycle did not meet management information requirements (15 days + ) and needed re-engineering.

Our Approach

  • Identified quick hit opportunities and built a long term plan for actionable improvement of the close process
  • Documented the polices and procedures to improve the control environment
  • Helped redefine roles and responsibilities within the Accounting team, to allow for a more efficient process but also to improve knowledge transfer between team members, all while seeking to minimize unnecessary tasks (such as reducing the number of journal entries)
  • Developed a monthly close toolkit

Results

lThe project was a success, with the Accounting Close process being reduced from taking 15 days to 8 days, creating a significant amount of bandwidth for the Accounting team as well as allowing management to make more timely and informed decisions
